NOTE: Out-Of-Town Volunteers, along with residents, STILL NEEDED!

ARNO Needs You!

A beautiful tabby snacking at one of the food/water stations.

Volunteers are needed to feed and water animals still on the street. Residents and out-of-towners needed to give relief to the volunteers who have been doing this for months and need a well-deserved break. If you are a resident and can only give one weekend day a month, that will help relieve one food & water resident volunteer. And if you can possibly give one weekend day two times a month, even better!

Volunteers are needed for warehouse work and shelter animal care. Morning shift starts at 9am –12noon, and afternoon shifts 3-6pm and 6-9pm. We need resident volunteers that we can schedule in to come as little as one day a week, or one day on the weekend. If you can give more than three hours it would be fabulous. We have much to do on the administrative end, and having animal care volunteers would relieve a staff person to tend to administrative duties.

Please, if you can help we guarantee a hundred pair of eyes that will thank you every minute! The best way to let us know you want to give a day, a shift, or a weekend is to call and leave at message on 504.571.1900, leaving your contact information and when you can volunteer that works with your schedule, or you can email us at arnovolunteer@yahoo.com. Remember, the shelter is a great place to do community service hours, too.

Soon we will have posted hours for the public when the time changes. We love visitors, but it does interrupt our work and because of the great amount of people coming to visit the shelter to look at the animals we will have to limit the public hours.

We will also be posting hours for food/water volunteers to pick up food. With the winter months coming, it will force us to close the big warehouse doors and all access will be through the office only. Once again, we love visitors but with such a small staff on hand it is hard to complete our shelter work before the daylight hours end.

Donations are welcome and necessary to keep all programs afloat. ARNO is an all-volunteer organization with only one paid staff member who makes less than minimum wage. Please continue your support through the PayPal link on our website, or by donating a Wal-Mart gift card (allows us to buy cleaning supplies and dry cat food at the best retail price). We could also use gasoline cards, to help pay for transports to and from vet offices, through Chevron, Shell or BP gas stations.

Your donations and volunteer efforts have allowed ARNO to foster and/or shelter (including spay/neuters, inoculations and heartworm treatment) over 1200 animals in the last five months… and feed/water literally tens of thousands of animals left homeless on the streets in 650 square miles of devastated area. Please continue to support the animals through ARNO… you are our partner in this recovery for animals, without you we could not have accomplished anything.

ARNO is always looking for foster and adopting homes for our four-legged friends. The foster homes help our pets ‘remember’ what it was like to be in a home, and teach them proper behavior before going on to their permanent home. If you wish to foster or adopt a pet please contact adoptfromarno@yahoo.com and see the listings of our pets on www.1-800-Save-A-Pet.com. Our cats and kittens are available for adoption at our shelter. An adoption application must be filled out prior to adoption, reviewed and approved before any animal is adopted. If you would like an adoption application emailed to you contact adoptfromarno@yahoo.com and ask for an adoption applicaton. All cats and kittens may be viewed at the shelter after 2pm, seven days a week.
